Of Hotels near IKEA and other Map Search Terms

IKEA Near Me

Did you know that some people searching for hotel rooms look for hotels near IKEA?

While you might be investing a lot of money in Instagram Marketing to promote your small business or Hotel, you really shouldn’t forget the people searching for things on Google using the word NEAR…

The word near is a word that signals intent. It helps to determine which one of Google’s Micro Moments you are in. In this case, a customer wants to GO somewhere.

Adding the work NEAR to your search term returns a differently formatted Search Engine Results Page (often called a SERP by SEO geeks). In other words, Google may give you your results in the form of a map.

By optimising your website to include your physical address and nearby landmarks, like IKEA, you can be found by customers above sites that are an online service only – though some of them have worked out this trick already.

NEAR ME….

Near searches are not just about place, but are also about time. According to Google,

“near me” mobile searches that contain a variant of “can I buy” or “to buy” have grown over 500% over the last two years. These include things like “where can I buy stamps near me,” “places to buy scrubs near me,” or “where to buy vinyl records near me.”

‘Near Me’ implies that somebody wants to do something now, while they are in a certain place. It also shows that not everybody is looking to buy online.

Location, Location, Location has always been important in Retail and Travel and that’s not going away. So consider it when you are developing your Keywords, Buyer Personas and Value Proposition. Use your physical presence to your advantage.
